Paul Bradshaw gives a nod to Ahmed Abdullah & Emanative's "Love in Outer Space"
“After collaborating together on Lions Of Judah, the next time Ahmed was over in the country he suggested that we record something else together! Knowing that he was a member of Sun Ra’s Arkestra for such an important period and that Steve Reid was also reported to have played with Sun Ra at some time, it made perfect sense to take on ‘Love In Outer Space’, it also happened to be one of Ahmed’s favourites.
As it’s first digital release – we’re very happy that this is again in aid of the Steve Reid Foundation, and that amongst many things we’ve achieved this last year, we have recently been able to give help and assistance to one of Steve and Ahmed’s fellow musician friends, alto saxophonist and composer Arthur Blythe – which we would all like to continue to do! It’s really amazing to have this opportunity to be working on an album’s worth of this kind of inspiring spiritual and free music with such a world class selection of collaborators… and to have the blessing of Gilles and the other foundation trustees!
To be completely honest, this hardly feels like work, but it’s good to know that all proceeds made from this go to both helping musicians in need and to supporting new and emerging talent. That’s why it’s important to us that you buy this release.
Thanks in advance for any help and support you are able contribute! Big outer space love to you all.”
